The scope of the subject matter corresponds to the scholarly profile of the Committee on Ancient Culture and comprises a number of areas related to ancient culture, including classical literature, Greek and Latin language, ancient history, archaeology, history of art, philosophy, reception of Antiquity in European culture and Polish studies on Antiquity. Research papers printed in “Meander” – articles and translations – are fitted with a scholarly apparatus (footnotes, exhaustive bibliography).
The first issue of the journal appeared in 1946, its cofounders were Kazimierz Kumaniecki and Kazimierz Michałowski. “Meander” is an annual journal devoted to ancient culture, published by the Committee on Ancient Culture of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
